UCalgary CIDE in collaboration with the Graduate College, University of Calgary is organizing a panel discussion and Q&A on allyship in various areas of EDI on Thursday, February 3rd from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. MST. Our panelists Hannah Brandson, Linda Corcoran, Syreeta Nolan, and Nimrat Obhi will share their stories on allyship followed by a Q&A session.

After receiving positive feedback during first round of STEM-Pals, UCalgary CIDE is back with the second round of STEM-Pals, a pen-pal/mentorship program to link middle school students in Calgary with University students who are passionate about STEM.Our main goal with this project is to inspire students to explore future careers in STEM/discuss higher education and overcoming obstacles. We will be matching volunteers from the UofC with Calgarian middle school students. Once paired with a student, volunteers in this program will write a 6 letters (emails) to their matches and receive 6 in responses. This would run over the span of six months i.e. from November till the month of Apri. We will match students with volunteers using an interest-based method, to ensure that students and volunteers share some common ground and can make the most out of their partnership.#EDI #Mentorship #Diversitymatters #change #Scienceforeveryone #DEI #Inclusivity

Hi everyone, there will be another STEM Together session Thursday, November 4th at 10 am. We are very excited to have Laura Rojas from the Department of Pediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine and Leonie O'Sullivan from the Department of Chemistry presenting. As a reminder,  STEM Together is an informal event where students and postdocs get the opportunity to present their work at a high level, using just one PowerPoint slide in 3 minutes.
