UCalgary CIDE launches holiday fundraiser for SU Campus Food Bank

UCalgary’s Chemists for Inclusivity, Diversity & Equity (CIDE) have come together this holiday season to help tackle food insecurity by collecting food and monetary donations for the university’s SU Campus Food Bank. So far, CIDE has collected several boxes of food donations and raised over $800 in monetary donations. The group has set the goal of reaching $1000 in donations by the end of this week.

UCalgary CIDE is an organization in the Department of Chemistry comprised of close to 40 graduate students, post-docs and faculty who are passionate about promoting equity, diversity, and inclusivity in STEM. Since its inception in 2020, CIDE has organized several events and activities around campus, online and in the community to help achieve these goals.

The SU Campus Foodbank fundraiser is a new initiative for this year, and the group hopes to make it a yearly holiday tradition. Congrats to UCalgary CIDE on all your fundraising efforts!

Food donations can still be dropped off at the Information Centre/Lost and Found on the main level of MacEwan Student Centre. To learn more about UCalgary’s SU Campus Food bank or to make a financial donation, click here
